Yorkshire trainers event on 25th February
March 2011

On Friday 25th February, we had another excellent Yorkshire trainers network event kindly hosted by Simon and Melanie from Hallmark. For the first hour, Wyn Davies from Pearson came to talk to us about the ‘Golden’ personality type profiler which is similar to MBTI steps 1 and 2 combined. After that Ann Alder from RSVP took over and we discussed the research on learning that has recently come out of Bristol University. They have identified 7 ‘dimensions of learning power’ which they have developed into a tool called the effective lifelong learning inventory (ELLI). The dimensions are…

1. changing and learning v. stuck and static

2. meaning making v. data accumulation

3. critical curiosity v. passivity

4. creativity v. being rule-bound

5. learning relationships v. isolation and dependence

6. strategic awareness v. being robotic

7. resilience v. fragility and dependence

We had some really interesting discussions and in the afternoon got to try out some of RSVP’s excellent experiential learning tools. It was a great day and all for £20!

The next non-profit Yorkshire trainers event will be held on April 1st at Ripley Castle when David Gibson from Eureka will share 21 great training ideas!
